The BH Wellness Guide
As Branksome students, no matter what grade you are in, we all know how stressful school can be during the winter, especially with IDU week and exams coming up. At times, it’s hard to incorporate wellness habits into our hectic schedules, so this article will serve as your guide on easy tips to help you calm down and stay balanced despite the workload and stress. My biggest tip is to focus on exercise!
1 – Have daily movement goals
To ensure that you are staying active, it is crucial to set goals for yourself that you can commit to. Whether it’s aiming for 30 minutes of movement a day or 3 hours, make sure that you are setting an achievable goal personal to you. Remember, you know yourself better than anyone! This can be broken down into smaller increments, such as 15 minutes of yoga or stretching when you wake up, or simply taking your dog for a short walk around your neighbourhood. Regular movement helps to lower blood pressure and can improve your overall mood.
2 – Take advantage of our school FC
As you all probably know, we have an amazing fitness centre on our campus located in the AWC, with many different machines available for all students and faculty to use. If you’re struggling to figure out what exercises would work best for you, you can contact Mr Amadio or Mr Mercuri, who are always willing to help.
3 – Make it social
As with most things, staying active with your friends makes it so much more fun and enjoyable. If you’re having difficulty staying consistent and motivated with your goals, try joining group activities such as team sports or any other fitness communities that you can find.
